The Essence of Earth & Easel
At Earth & Easel Studio, I create sanctuary spaces that honour nature’s rhythms, evoke timeless beauty, and inspire wonder—whether through wildlife-friendly garden design, planting plans, or nature-inspired illustration.
Based in Wiltshire, UK, I blend hands-on ecological gardening with immersive artwork to help people reconnect with the land in meaningful, lasting ways.
About Me
Hello, I’m Kai — a garden designer, illustrator, and ecological gardener with a passion for storytelling, natural beauty, and the quiet magic of outdoor spaces.
My journey began in the world of animation, where I specialised in environment design. Over time, my creative path led me outdoors — into the world of plants, soil, and seasons — where I now combine my artistic background with practical gardening expertise.
Growing up, I was captivated by the stories landscapes tell — whether through a mossy path in ancient woodland or a garden humming with bees. That same sense of wonder still guides my work today: from permaculture-inspired garden designs to digital landscape paintings rich in light, folklore, and seasonal rhythm.
Experience & Philosophy
With over five years of gardening experience, a Permaculture Design Certificate, and a degree in Animation Production, I offer a rare fusion of practical skill and creative vision.
My background as a background artist refined my eye for colour, light, and composition.
My hands-on gardening work taught me how to care for plants, soil, and ecosystems with integrity and care.
My love of wild camping, foraging, and bushcraft has deepened my respect for ecological systems and natural design.
One day, I hope to create a community sanctuary garden where others can slow down, reconnect with the land, and rediscover the peace and purpose nature can offer.
Earth & Easel Studio
Earth & Easel Studio was born from my desire to bring together art, gardening, and storytelling into one grounded, soulful practice.
Inspired by the principles of harmony with nature, timeless beauty, and meaningful storytelling, the studio offers services that help people bring life, art, and intention into outdoor spaces.
What I Offer:
Garden Illustration & Concept Art – Visualising garden ideas through detailed, evocative sketches and paintings that help you see the potential of your space before planting begins.
Environment Painting – Atmospheric, digital nature studies inspired by historical landscapes, folklore, and the quiet power of light and place.
Gardening Services – Transforming gardens with a permaculture-informed approach — from planting and pruning to wildlife-friendly design and long-term care.
At Earth & Easel, I believe every garden and artwork can become a living invitation to pause, reconnect, and rediscover your place in nature.
Design Philosophy
At the heart of everything I do — whether planting a border, illustrating a garden, or painting a landscape — are three guiding principles that shape the work of Earth & Easel Studio:
-
Designs that integrate seamlessly with their surroundings, prioritising biodiversity, sustainability, and the health of local ecosystems.
-
A thoughtful, minimalist aesthetic rooted in function and intention — every element chosen for its contribution to lasting, grounded beauty.
-
Gardens and images that feel like stories: layered, immersive, and alive with curiosity — inviting exploration, reflection, and emotional connection.
These values guide every planting plan, painting, and project — making each one not just a product, but a transformative experience that honours the land and deepens our relationship with it.
